Taimen

Float Trips

Mongolia’s most scenic float trip with excellent fly fishing for Taimen, Lenok and Grayling, this is one of the most beautiful rivers in Mongolia; carved through limestone and granite bedrock, the valley is flanked by spectacular cliffs and rock pinnacles. These float trips offer the chance to catch 40 or even 50-inch Taimen, as well as world-class…

We are now able to offer a fly-in service direct to our camps utilizing a new air service operated by Alaskan bush pilot, Scott Thomas.     The Pilatus Porter (8 seat) and Maule 7 (3 seat) single propeller aircraft are capable of flying direct to our camp in 3 hours from Ulaanbaatar.   The Maule 7 can be kept at the camp allowing daily fly outs to the best fishing along the Delger Muron and other rivers.

World Class

Trout Fishing

Its easy to forget that there’s much more to fishing in Mongolia than chasing Taimen. For starters Mongolia could be considered a world-class trout-fishing destination just for the abundance and size of its Lenok.  The Siberian equivalent of brown trout; Lenok feed on prolific mayfly hatches and will readily take a dry fly. Grayling are also plentiful.

Taimen

Conservation

The Taimen are a pre-historic mega-fish renowned for feeding on small mammals and ducklings. Left alone and growing slowly to great sizes, Taimen can live to over 40 years old and can reach 70 inches in length. Mongolia is home to some of the worlds best remaining Taimen fisheries and we want to keep it this way; we are dedicated to the cause of taimen conservation and consider ourselves.

What Our Clients Say

The trip worked so well because the people on it were simply fantastic, and the organisation that went into putting us lot truly into the wilds in a way that we could easily deal with it was seamless – huge thanks guys.

To find fish of this size living in such an incredibly beautiful river is mind blowing.

The Fish Mongolia operation is one of the slickest float trips any of us have experienced. Andy Parkinson has refined the experience in the extreme over his years of experience fishing this river.

The river valley is absolutely stunning – a wide river alternating between rapids and deep pools, a wildflower laced valley floor and big high cliffs like bookmarks on either side. We had the entire river to ourselves.

The River is a piece of heaven lost in time, and floating down it from the ger camp left each of us in awe everyday. The fishing was fantastic, watching my brother hold that 1m 25 fish after the battle of the “Bus Stop” will remain with me forever.

Having experienced one of your luxury float trips along with the incredible fishing I will never do another Alaskan float trip again. I realized my dream of 23 years when I finally hooked into that taimen of a life time.
